It was the first summer after my eight-year relationship had ended. Everything was new - new apartment, city, friends, furniture, dishes, routine, etc. The breakup was very hard on me. I felt like I needed to escape and reconnect with myself, so, naturally, I booked a two-week, solo trip to Iceland.
Shortly after my trip to Iceland, I spent the next year doing things for myself. From getting my motorcycle license to attending a music festival alone, to saying yes to anything my friends asked - here's a mini recap.
A long time ago, I studied abroad in France. I was fluent, confident, and très chic. Fast forward to last summer, I went back to France for the first time in almost ten years. Starting by visiting the Côte-d'Azur with friends and then making my way to Paris via Monaco and Provence.
After my experience of solo travel, I decided it was important to do more outside of my comfort zone. After my best friend's wedding in Ecuador (which was a fantastic experience in itself), I went to the Galapagos Islands to explore all it had to offer.
